Step by Step Guide: How to Start a Charity Fundraising Campaign (for non-charity staff)
Fundraising for a charity is different from starting a personal campaign. Charity campaigns ensure that funds are disbursed directly to the organization’s official account, making them easier to verify and often tax-deductible for donors.
IN THIS ARTICLE:
2 Options to Start a Charity Fundraising Campaign
Option 1: Start from the charity’s Give.Asia page
- Visit the Give.Asia profile of the charity you want to support.
-
On their page, click Fundraise for this Charity.

-
Log in or create a Give.Asia account (verify your email).

- Choose the type of campaign you want to run (e.g., participate in their event, celebrate your birthday, DIY fundraiser).
- Fill in your campaign details:
- Campaign title (make it clear you’re raising for the charity).
- Fundraising target.
- Story (why you chose this charity, how funds will help their cause).
-
Cover photo or event image.

- Confirm your short URL → Submit → Wait for review from Give.Asia’s Fundraising Support Specialist.
Option 2: Start from the general fundraiser flow and select Charity
-
Go to give.asia/fundraise → click Start a Fundraiser.

2. Log in or create a Give.Asia account (verify your email).
3. Under fundraising campaign type, select Charity fundraiser.

4. Search for your chosen charity by name, keyword, or browse by category.
- If the charity is not yet listed, you may request them to register with Give.Asia.
- Choose the type of campaign you’d like to create for that charity.
- Fill in campaign details:
- Title, goal amount, and short story about why you’re fundraising for them.
-
Cover photo & description of the cause.
- Confirm your short URL → Submit → Wait for Give.Asia’s review.

A published charity fundraising campaign will show the charity's details in your campaign.
Why it’s important to use the Charity option?
- Funds go directly to the charity’s official account, not to your personal account.
- Campaigns are easier to verify and approve.
- Donors may receive tax benefits, depending on the charity’s status.
- Submitting a charity campaign under “Personal” can cause delays or rejection during compliance checks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if the charity I want isn’t listed?
If the charity is not yet listed, you may request them to register with Give.Asia. You can also create a personal campaign and list the charity as the beneficiary, then inform us of the charity's bank account details, so the payout is sent to them.
What documents do I need for a charity fundraiser?
- Campaign details (title, target, story).
- Photos or event images related to the cause.
How are funds released?
All donations go straight into the charity’s registered bank account. Fundraisers never handle the money — this ensures full transparency.
Can I edit my campaign after publishing?
The campaign text must first pass through compliance checks. Once published, only minor edits (such as fixing typos or updating goal amount) can be made. If larger edits are required, you’ll need to contact your Case Supporter to request the changes.
Recommendation: Always finalize your campaign story and details before publishing, since significant edits may not be possible afterward.
Do I need an end date?
Not required. Many charity campaigns are ongoing, but updates should be posted at least every 2 weeks.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, if the charity is eligible. This will be shown on the charity’s Give.Asia profile.
